Mitch Franklin, assistant professor in Whitman's Joseph I. Lubin School of Accounting, discusses the possible pitfalls in too hastily accepting solicitations touting low-interest credit cards. "The mere asking of a bank to evaluate your credit worthiness negatively impacts your credit score," he notes. "By taking on a new credit card offering a low interest rate, you may in fact end up paying more in interest on your next car loan or home mortgage because of the negative impact that act had on your credit score."
