Technology Bootcamp

The Technology Bootcamp is an intensive, four-day course and networking event for entrepreneurs focused on using technologies to manage and grow their business. Through hands-on technology demonstrations and in-class presentations, you will obtain practical advice and training on relevant and cost-effective technologies. This unique program is one of the fastest and easiest ways for non-technology entrepreneurs or small business owners to learn about technologies and trends that matter to their business.

 


Program Dates & Information

The 2010 Technology Bootcamp will take place four consecutive Saturdays: March 6, 13, 20, and 27 from 8:30am-12:30pm. The cost is $395. Organizations sending multiple participants may be eligible for discounts. For more information or to register contact Meghan Savage at 315-443-1389.

Course Content

Four-hour sessions held over the source of four Saturdays will help entrepreneurs gain the technical knowledge and develop the insight and vision required for a 21st century business.

 

The Technology Bootcamp assists entrepreneurs without any formal information technology background to become familiar with fundamental principles, practices and applications of technology.

Day 1: How to Increase Productivity and Operations with Software and Systems

  • Using productivity software: Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, GoogleDocs, and more.
  • What is Customer Resource Management (CRM) and how will it help my business?
  • How can Quickbooks help my business?
  • Useful printing and faxing tools
  • Anti-virus software options
  • Email marketing tools and technologies

Day 2: How to Leverage the Power of the Internet

  • An introduction to the Internet
  • Why is bandwidth important?
  • Web design fundamentals
  • Introduction to programming (HTML, Javascript, AJAX, SQL)
  • Prepare your Website for search engines (SEO)
  • Increase website traffic with Adwords and Adsense
  • Online outsourcing options

Day 3: How to Enhance Marketing and Communications with Digital Media

  • An introduction to digital media formats, standards, and trends
  • What is streaming media and why is it relevant?
  • New media authoring tools and tips
  • What can social media do for your business?
  • Audio and video editing, software and best practices
  • How can I distribute Internet video?

Day 4: Maximize your Investments in Infrastructure Technologies

  • An introduction to infrastructure technologies
  • How to maintain and upgrade your PC
  • What is a server and how are they used? (Web, Application, Print, Media, and more.)
  • Networking fundamental
  • How to create and use a database
  • Determining your storage requirements and types
  • Implementing physical and virtual security
