Financial Aid
Approximately 80% of the students at Syracuse University receive some form of financial support including assistance from institutional, federal, state, or private sources. The largest source of financial aid for Syracuse University students is scholarships and grants. Last year we spent over $178 million Syracuse University dollars in awarding students scholarships and grants. For more information about financial aid, view the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs’ web site.

Although institutional scholarships and grants make up a large portion of the financial aid received by students, many students and parents also opt to borrow loans. A variety of low-interest loans are available to assist students and parents with the cost of financing an education. To apply for Federal Direct Student and Parent Loans, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filed. For further details about the various loan options available, visit the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs’ web site.
Financial Aid
Syracuse University requires two financial aid applications to be filed: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and the College Scholarship Service CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE. Details about these applications, filing deadlines, timeline, and types of financial aid can be found on the Syracuse University Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs’ web site.
Scholarships are awarded to students based on merit and academic accomplishment. Student admission applications are reviewed for scholarship opportunities both through Syracuse University and the Whitman School. There are also other outside scholarship opportunities available throughout a student’s education at the school.
For a complete list of awards and scholarships and for application deadline dates, consult the Scholarship Notebook in the Undergraduate Office, Suite 215 in the Whitman School of Management. |
