Real Estate Club

The Real Estate Club in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University is the fastest growing club in the school. The club was established to provide a forum for students with an interest in real estate to learn more about the industry. The areas of real estate that are coved by guest speakers and site visits include: architecture, construction, development, finance, law, management, and sales. The club has also organized trainings in Real Estate Excel and Argus Modeling.

The club hosted a series of speakers during the Fall 2010 semester, focusing on current trends and issues facing the real estate industry. The speaker series, developed in partnership with Peter Vergis, executive director of Pyramid Brokerage, will be presented by seasoned real estate professionals from both Pyramid Brokerage and the Widewaters Group.

The speaker’s series included:

  • October 6: F.L. Gorman, director of development (Mid-Atlantic), the Widewaters Group, “Bankruptcy and Receiverships in Commercial Real Estate”
  • October 27: Kaye Habib ‘07 MBA, controller, the Widewaters Group, “Financing Commercial Real Estate”
  • November 10: Steve Raneri, vice president of construction/design, the Widewaters Group, “Construction & Development of Commercial Real Estate
  • December 1: Jon Sayre, associate broker, Pyramid Brokerage, “Commercial Real Estate Site Selection”

In Spring 2011, the club will host two real estate related workshops focusing on student development of valuable technological skills necessary for success in the real estate industry.  The workshops, sponsored by the Kuhn Real Estate Center, will be presented by Ms. Milena Petrova, Assistant Professor of Finance.

  • Argus Workshop, April 1st & 2nd

Each workshop will start at 9:30 am in the Ballentine Center in the Whitman School of Management. The event is free and open to SU faculty and students.
