Admission

Admissions decisions are made by individual disciplines, based on academic abilities, career potential, and the match between the faculty expertise and student interest. Because admission in the Ph.D. program in Whitman is competitive, the decision to admit also depends on the applicant pool in a given year. In evaluating an applicant, the review teams in each discipline evaluate:

• Completed application form (includes personal statement, transcripts and three recommendation letters)
  
• GMAT (preferred) or GRE scores 
  
• TOEFL scores for students whose native language is not English
  
• Other relevant supporting materials
