Integrated Risk in Operations and Global Supply Chains

The supply chain management program in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University will host the sixth annual conference on Integrated Risk Management in Operations and Global Supply Chains in Syracuse, N.Y. August 8-9, 2010. The conference is co-sponsored by Syracuse University alumni Gar Grannell '88 BS and wife Francine Grannell '04 MS (EDU), the H.H. Franklin Center for Supply Chain Management and the R. H. Brethen Operations Management Institute in the Whitman School, and the Boeing Center on Technology, Information and Manufacturing (BCTIM) at the Olin Business School of Washington University in St. Louis.

The integration of financial and economic risks in supply chain management has long been of interest to academic researchers and corporate practitioners. The conference is intended to facilitate innovative ideas in managing uncertainty and risk associated with financial and economic markets in global supply chains. Please view the program for more information about the conference schedule.

Home to the first supply chain management program in the nation, the Whitman School of Management has two research centers that provide a bridge between industry and academia: The Franklin Center for Supply Chain Management and the R.H. Brethen Institute for Operations Management. In addition to these centers, the Whitman School has the long tradition (more than 60 years) of honoring the best practice in the field of supply chain management practice with the Salzberg Medallion. The 2009 recipients of the award were Michael C. Ward, president and CEO of CSX, and Malcom McLean, founder of Trailer Bridge, and "the father of containerization."
